“oh it’s so different and awful and functions like an actual social media site now” correct. your pain is nothing compared to those who had to overwrite the muscle memory of scrolling back up to the top of the post to reblog

thinking about the m9 and their relationship to marion and the way they always made sure to cater to jester, making sure she had the time she wanted and needed with her mother whenever they were able to get her home. i’ve always thought it was very sweet of them but sitting here watching this show again i’m realizing they all looked at jester and did that immediately, without needing to be asked, because her relationship with her mom is something none of them have that same level of security with. fjord is a orphan, beau’s mother is neglectful, caleb was made to kill his mother, veth is still nott when they first meet marion and mourning the loss of her own motherhood, and caduceus at that point has no idea where his mom is, what state she’s in, if she’s alive. and later when yasha is around again, she almost automatically does the same because she lost her mother when she was young and then lost the only other motherly figure she had when she was banished. i think it’s just so wonderfully bittersweet of the m9 to see how much jester and her mom love each other, realize that they really are the other’s only family, and without needing to be asked go above and beyond to ensure that jester and her mother get to hug and smile and spend time together whenever possible no matter what
and even better is they do the same thing for veth and caduceus when it becomes possible and again - it is an unspoken agreement, that the m9 is family and family of the m9 comes first, no matter what
i think the problem with eridan and feferi is that basically everyone has felt the pain of an unrequited crush on a dear friend, but a lot less people have been in the suffocating and terrifying position of playing emotional support system to a dangerous and unstable guy, year in and year out, hoping they grow up and watching as they never do they just keep making threats to keep you too scared to dump them, but they love you, they need you, you make them a better person, you make them, they can’t do it without you, don’t leave. don’t ever leave. they don’t know what they’d do if you left. something bad. so don’t.
so like, a ton of people, by thirteen or fourteen, have felt eridan’s pain. it’s easy to be really sympathetic to him! it’s awful and sick and humiliating to need someone who doesn’t want you, it’s genuinely one of the worst feelings.
but a lot less people, and mostly girls, and mostly around late adolescence or early adulthood, have gone through feferi’s situation and come out the other side. and some girls never get out of that situation. some girls die in it. feferi died in it. she was brave and kind and ambitious and wanted the best for people, and she got shot for being her own person instead of her ex’s.
so like, just saying, that is seriously a factor that needs to be considered about feferi and eridan’s relationship. that is something you need to think about before you say eridan was the misunderstood victim of their relationship. it sucks to love someone who doesn’t love you back. but it sucks harder to hold on to that someone until they break from it.
You just know that some sweet little old Nana who has been making quilts for the last 50 years has seen this photo and gone “challenge accepted” and make a blanket with that pattern
